Withdrawal & establishment of light buoys south of Cheung Chau & Shek Kwu Chau

Withdrawal and establishment of light buoys will take place to the south of Cheung Chau and Shek Kwu Chau with effect from 31 March 2023.

Withdrawal of two safe water marks

The two safe water marks “Cheung Chau” and “Shek Kwu Chau” at the following positions (WGS 84 Datum) will be withdrawn:
(A) 22° 11.741’N / 114° 03.380’E
(B) 22° 10.758’N / 113° 59.547’E

Establishment of three cardinal marks

The three new cardinal marks with details as follows will be established:

Position (C) (WGS 84 Datum): 22° 11.063’N / 114° 02.896’E
Type: South cardinal mark
Shape: Pillar
Colour: Yellow above black
Light Characteristics: Q(6) + LF1. 15s
Top Mark: Two black cones one above the other, points downward
Radar Reflector: Fitted

Name: Shek Kwu Chau SE
Position (D) (WGS 84 Datum) : 22° 10.060’N / 114° 02.325’E
Type: North cardinal mark
Shape: Pillar
Colour: Black above yellow
Light Characteristics: Q
Top Mark: Two black cones one above the other, points upward
Radar Reflector: Fitted

Name: Shek Kwu Chau SW
Position (E) (WGS 84 Datum): 22° 10.357’N / 113° 58.144’E
Type: North cardinal mark
Shape: Pillar
Colour: Black above yellow
Light Characteristics: Q
Top Mark: Two black cones one above the other, points upward
Radar Reflector: Fitted
