Force Majeure declared after conveyor system collapse

On 11 July 2025, the conveying stream between TT 2 and TT 3 collapsed and caused stoppage of cargo handling operations which has severely affected the terminal services. Further, Cargo Handling Services and other associated cargo operations has been brought to standstill from 1930 hours on 11 July and the said event has brought our entire cargo and vessel handling Operations to complete halt.

The above disruption in Port's operations has caused a total breakdown of the entire logistics chain which is completely beyond control of Vizag General Cargo Berth Private Limited (VGCB) and constitutes a “Force Majeure” event and we hereby notify you of this “Force Majeure” event.

VGCB operations has been severely and adversely affected. Therefore, please be further notified that VGCB shall not be responsible during the Force Majeure period for any vessel demurrages or other consequential losses, including but not limited to, Pre-Berthing Delay and Discharge Rate Guarantee(s) for vessels working on berth, vessels awaiting berthing, and Vessels planned to be handled at VGCB.

Further, at this preliminary stage, it is apprehended that it may take some more days for the situation to improve. VGCB is trying its best to get the situation normal by working round the clock to resolve the issue. Accordingly, based on further discussion and confirmation, we shall notify you of the "Cessation of Force Majeure" in due course…

…Notwithstanding the above, VGCB shall continue to put the best efforts even with very limited resources to resume terminal operations as early as possible.
