Submarine cable repair works near Butterfly Bay, Tuen Mun

For approximately five months, submarine cable repair works will be carried out in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E):
(A) 22° 21.433’N 113° 57.347’E
(B) 22° 21.362’N 113° 57.326’E
(C) 22° 21.088’N 113° 57.232’E
(D) 22° 21.149’N 113° 57.146’E
(E) 22° 21.441’N 113° 57.243’E

The works will be carried out by one flat-top barge and one dumb lighter. One tugboat and one work boat will provide assistance. Vessels engaged in the works will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

A working area of approximately 160 metres around the flat-top barge will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barge.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours daily. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Diving operations will be carried out from time to time during the hours of work.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear of the works area at slow speed, bearing in mind that there are divers working in the area.
