Negative test requirement

18 Feb 2021 / Grand Port, Reunion

From today (18 February) to 4 March, no-one may disembark from a fishing, commercial or pleasure vessel without a negative RT-PCR test carried out prior to disembarkation.

Where contact between the onboard community and people outside the ship cannot be avoided, the entire ship’s crew must undergo a prior RT-PCR test. Access onboard is only permitted if the test results are negative.

This does not apply to maritime pilots equipped with the appropriate personal protective equipment and port personnel, subject to strict compliance with the protocol on the reception and handling of ships. Not does it apply during checks conducted onboard by the competent public authorities, subject to the wearing of suitable protective equipment and compliance with measures imposed by the health authorities.

The requirement for a test does not apply to person embarked from ships based in Reunion returning from a non-stop or stopover expedition in territories free of Covid-19.
