Wind & rain warning

Gales force/strong winds and intense rainfall are expected in the Geraldton coastal area until 1800 hours local time tomorrow (10 February) area due to the approaching Tropical Cyclone 21U (Mitchell) Cat-1.

Forecast conditions may pose a significant risk to vessels remaining within the port’s anchorage area.

In the interest of safety and to minimise the risk of dragging anchor, collision, or grounding, all vessels currently at anchorage, or scheduled to arrive are instructed to depart the Port of Geraldton anchorage area and proceed outside Port Limits.

Masters are reminded to ensure that:
- Engines and essential machinery remain available for immediate manoeuvring.
- Sufficient sea room is maintained while outside Port Limits.
- Weather updates and navigational warnings are continuously monitored.
- MWPA is advised of the vessel’s position and intentions as per normal reporting requirements.
