Construction works for a wave wall inside Cheung Chau Typhoon Shelter commenced on July 29, 2026 and are expected to continue for approximately 13 months. The works are being carried out within a designated work area inside the shelter.
Operations take place between 07:00 and 19:00, excluding Sundays and public holidays. The project involves a dumb lighter and ro-ro barge, with support from a dry cargo vessel and tugboat. Safety zones and silt curtains have been established around the work area.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear of the construction area.
