Upcoming lock closures

The Eastham 80′ Lock will close to vessel movements to enable major capital works, primarily affecting vessels with DWT less than 20,000 tonnes and beam of 23.03 metres.

  • September 7-16, 2026
    - Last operational tide: 19.38 (BST) HW on September 6, 2026
    - First operational tide: 03.12 (BST) HW on September 17, 2026
  • October 6-15, 2026
    - Last operational tide: 19.33 (BST) HW on October 5, 2026
    - First operational tide: 02.42 (BST) HW on October 16, 2026
  • November 9-18, 2026
    - Last operational tide: 22.30 (GMT) HW on November 8, 2026
    - First operational tide: 06.06 (GMT) HW on November 19, 2026

During these closure periods, no traffic will be able to enter or leave the Manchester Ship Canal, impacting terminals in the waterway including Stanlow Terminal, Ellesmere Port, Runcorn and Manchester.

The Queen Elizabeth II Lock will not be affected by the works.
