The office hours of all [Hong Kong] District Marine Offices will be unified with effect from 4 July 2016 (Monday) for a trial period of six months as follows:
Monday to Friday
8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Marine Department (MD) operates eight District Marine Offices (DMOs) at Annex providing licensing and port formalities services to vessels with inconsistent office hours. To optimize the resources of MD and enhance the services to the public, the office hours of the DMOs will be unified as above.
During the six months trial period, MD will review the effectiveness and collect feedback from stakeholders.
Apart from the counter services, MD has also provided round-the-clock services for handling the port formalities through the Electronic Business System (eBS) that has already extended to allow individual vessel owners to submit applications for renewal of vessel licences. Renewal of vessel licence applications may also be sent by mail to any DMOs, which will be processed within 6 working days and the new licence will be sent to the owner’s registered address by mail.
