India-Pakistan situation update (13 May 2025)

13 May 2025 / India & Pakistan

13 May
Operations at all ports in India are reported to be normal, without any delays/interruptions.

At the port of Kandla, acceptance of vessels arriving from ports in Pakistan is on a case-by-case basis. Berthing and cargo operations are permitted ONLY after obtaining special clearance from the customs authorities and the port. Such permission is granted for vessels working at anchorage and alongside berths only after proper verification of all documents and physical boarding of vessels. A rummage team from the Customs will board the vessels arriving in ballast at Kandla from Pakistani ports. This applies for vessels intending to sail out from Kandla to Pakistani ports/Karachi, either in ballast or with transit cargo onboard. Permission to sail from Kandla to Karachi is subject to the authorities being satisfied with the documents and details provided. However, the procedures for getting clearance for sail or berth are changing day by day.

11 May
Operations at Kandla Port resumed at 06:00 on 11 May, delayed from the planned resumption on 10 May evening due to lack of adequate labour turnout and ‘black-out’ orders.
All operations reported normal at the port of Mundra with no stoppages overnight.
The city of Jamnagar (Sikka, Vadinar) was under ‘black-out’ overnight, but operations continued as normal at Sikka (Reliance Terminal) and Vadinar. At Navlakhi and other anchorage ports in Gujarat, normal operations continued without interruptions.
All other India ports continued as normal.

10 May
Operations at Kandla and Mundra ports returned to normal at 08:30. Other ports continued operations as normal with no disruption.
At 16:00, Kandla Port authorities suspended port operations/vessel movements due to high alert but were restored at 17:00. Vessels at berth were instructed to contact port control, monitor the situation and switch off lights completely as and when instructed. Operations/movements at all other ports continued as normal, with no disruptions reported.

9 May
Mundra Port announced suspension of gate operation from 22:00 hours on 9 May until 22:00 hours on 10 May, during which no gate movement was permitted from the North Gate.
Inward/outward vessel movements at Kandla Port were cancelled due to ‘black out’ and the port instructed all vessels at berths to switch off lights completely, and cargo operations on working vessels be suspended.
