Tropical Cyclone Shaheen

This is to advise on the progress and developments of tropical cyclone “Shaheen” in relation to vessels/boats at FOTT, Main Quay, SBB and Service Harbour.

Wind speed is expected to increase and will reach 32 knots, gusting to over 40 knots tonight (3 October) at around 2200 hours local time. Significant wave height would exceed 4 metres.

All vessels/boats at the above mentioned berths to take precautionary measures and prepare for the inclement weather, which should include but not be limited to:

  1. Secure loose equipment and cargo on deck
  2. Mooring lines to be tended to and additional mooring lines to be secured. This is particularly the case for utility boats at Service Harbour.
  3. Cargo operations at FOTT to be stopped when sustained wind speed reaches 25 knots.
  4. Cargo operations at Main Quay and SBB to be stopped when sustained win speed reaches 35 knots.
