The forecast from state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) shows that Tropical Cyclone NOCK-TEN (locally named "Nina") is expected to make landfall over Bicol region on Christmas eve.
PAGASA is also expecting the weather disturbance to traverse Luzon and directly affect the regions of Bicol, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, and Metro Manila over the Christmas weekend.
The US Navy's Hawaii-based Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), however, is expecting the storm to make landfall over Quezon Province before crossing Central Luzon. JTWC meteorologists were also expecting the tropical storm to intensify to typhoon category while still over the Pacific Ocean.
