Following an incident which resulted in the loss of a life at the Port of Ngqura, the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) has ruled that no night time operations involving the transfer of personnel or crew between vessels in Algoa Bay and its surroundings are permitted. This is effective immediately.
Night time is considered to be from 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise the following day.
