Traffic resumed after Upper Channel closure

Normal traffic has now resumed in the Houston Ship Channel, after a brief closure between 1546 and 1606 hours yesterday (9 August).

The Coast Guard had ordered the closure due to a ship temporarily anchoring in the channel in vicinity of Valero Manchester, after receiving reports of a hydrogen sulfide leak at the Lyondell Houston refining facility.

The source of the leak was secured, and traffic resumed.
