Testing of unmanned vehicles

Testing of an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) and an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) will be carried out off the Southern Islands from Seringat Beacon in East Keppel Fairway to the South of P Sakijang Bendera Islands on 24 to 25 February, 2 March and 4 March.

As stated in the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No. 27 of 2026, the testing will be conducted at sea between 1030–1230 hours and 1400–1600 hours daily (within daylight hours), within the trial area bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01° 13.931’N / 103° 51.497’E
2) 01° 13.317’N / 103° 51.835’E
3) 01° 12.796’N / 103° 51.113’E
4) 01° 12.752’N / 103° 51.145’E
5) 01° 13.270’N / 103° 51.861’E
6) 01° 13.325’N / 103° 51.889’E
7) 01° 13.958’N / 103° 51.546’E

The UUV/ USV will be deployed into the water via the aft deployment platform of Helios S1 (workboat).

The UUV and USV will be side towed back to be recovered by the workboat for subsequent trial runs.

Safety boats will be deployed to warn other craft to keep clear of the area during working hours.

Craft involved in the work will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the trial area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 12 (East Control);
and
e) Communicate with East Control for assistance if required.
