Temporary suspension of boarding of surveyors

26 Mar 2020 / Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health has instructed a temporary withhold of ship surveyors from boarding any vessel coming to any port in Sri Lanka until further notice. This measure has been taken because ship surveyors may be at high risk due to their long exposure to the crew and ship environment during their routine work.

P & I surveyors, cargo surveyors and bunker surveyors are exempted. However, it is recommended to adhere to the precautions (following port health guidelines and wearing suitable PPE) and to keep all records of such activities at individual level.

Further, bunker surveyors are expected remain in the bunker barges and strictly not permitted to board the receiving vessel as per instructed by port officials.
