Temporary establishment of acoustic doppler current profilers at Tai Lam Chung

For approximately 4 months, acoustic doppler current profilers (ADCPs) will be temporarily established on the seabed in the following locations (WGS 84 Datum):
(A) 22 deg. 21.730’N / 114 deg. 01.090’E
(B) 22 deg. 21.694’N / 114 deg. 01.055’E
(C) 22 deg. 21.692’N / 114 deg. 01.029’E
(D) 22 deg. 21.672’N / 114 deg. 01.053’E

The ADCP is an acoustic recording instrument for collecting wave and current data. It is fixed to an instrument of pyramid shape with a height of about 0.8 metre and a base of 1.0 metre by 1.0 metre on the seabed. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights are laid to mark the locations of the ADCPs. Laying of the ADCPs [is being] carried by a work boat.

The hours of work are from 0800 to 1800 hours. No operations are being carried out on Sundays and public holidays. The vessel employed for the operations will not stay in the locations outside the hours of work.

Vessel engaged in the operations display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
