Severe Typhoon Ragasa (update 25 September 2025)

All typhoon signals in Hong Kong have today (25 September) been cancelled, and operations in the port have resumed as normal.

24 September
Oil terminal cargo operations and pilotage/bunker service in Hong Kong are still suspended due to Severe Typhoon Ragasa.

At 15:00 hours local time today (24 September), Ragasa was centred at 21.5 N, 112.5 E about 190 km west-southwest of Hong Kong, bringing maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near its centre. It is forecast to edge closer to the western coast of Guangdong during the day.

Hong Kong Observatory’s Gale or Storm Signal No.8 is still in force, but weather is expected to improve from tomorrow (25 September).

23 September:
Super Typhoon Ragasa was about 510 km east-southeast of Hong Kong and forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 km per hour across the northern part of the South China Sea. It continued to edge closer to the Guangdong coast, posing a severe threat.

Weather in Hong Kong was expected to deteriorate rapidly on 23 September, and Hong Kong Observatory issued Gale or Storm Signal No.8 at 14:20 hours.
