Strong winds halt port movements

Dammam Port was closed from 10:30 hours today (13 March) due to strong winds of 30 knots. For safety reasons, the Port Authority / Marine Department halted movement of ships, docking /undocking during high wind speed.

Almost all the Central and Eastern Provinces of Saudi Arabia are experiencing strong, dusty winds from the beginning of this week. The strength of wind is reportedly calming down in the Central Province but gathering force and speed in the Eastern Province where Dammam Port is situated. The wind is forecast to continue until the weekend and, as a result, the vessel movements of at the port will suspended from time to time.
