Strike causing disruption to port operations

Due to union actions at several locations in the Antwerp port area as part of the ongoing three-day national strike, there is severe traffic disruption today (26 November), including on the Scheldelaan and the Sint-Antoniusweg.

As at 08.30 hours today, inbound and outbound vessel traffic resumed with shipping movements being scheduled optimally according to available capacity and any ongoing actions. The Flemish Pilotage Service in Vlissingen is operating at 50% and POAB towage services at 70% capacity. The Left Bank is staffed despite picket lines in Sint-Antonius. VTS and passage planning are fully operational, and all bridges are functioning. The Boudewijn and Van Cauwelaert locks are out of service due to picket lines on the Scheldelaan.

In Zeebrugge, inbound and outbound shipping resumed at 07:30 today, and unpiloted/exempted traffic has restarted. Outbound pilotage is planned from 10:30, and inbound pilotage from 12:30. The PVD lock is operational.

Further, this morning trade unions plan to block the Kennedylaan, in the direction of Ghent, for 10-15 minutes every hour.
