Karachi Port Trust is urging port users to remain vigilant and take necessary measures to avoid disruption by a storm warning affecting the area until 29 March.
The storm may damage weak structures, and may interrupt cargo handling and container stacking operations. Karachi Port Trust terminal are advised to secure containers by reducing stack heights and operators are urged to ensure all sensitive, lightweight and high value cargo is secured and covered. Drainage lines and sump tanks should be checked to prevent flooding.
Pilots are on standby during the storm warning period.
