Storm Doris reaches UK shores

Parts of the UK today (23 February) faced travel disruption as Storm Doris arrived with winds reaching 94mph. Severe weather warnings were issued in some parts of northern England, East Anglia, north Wales and the Midlands, and there was snow in higher areas in Scotland.

The storm has had an impact on operations at some ports in parts of the country, as follows:

AVONMOUTH: Cargo discharge operations were suspended this morning, but are expected to resume this afternoon.

LIVERPOOL: The port was closed with all movements cancelled for this morning’s tide (H.W. 09:01 hours). Locally, there were storm force winds of 60+ knots at Stanlow and Tranmere, and 75+ Knots outside at the Pilot station. No movements at the time of writing.
The forecast for tonight’s tide (H.W. 21:29 hours) is that the storm should have ebbed away enough for traffic to start moving again.
