Shiploader major outage

23 Jul 2025 / Port Waratah, Australia

Port Waratah will soon be conducting the first tranche of the significant life extension and refurbishment of 7.09 shiploader. From 28 July, 7.09 shiploader will undergo structural upgrades for a period of 112 days in line with the KCT Shiploader Optimisation Strategic Project.

The following information is provided for your attention regarding the project:

K5 - Wharf Repairs
Commencing 29 July and lasting 35 days. This will isolate all K5 and mean that only 3 vessels will be able to be berthed and services by the remaining two KCT shiploaders - 7.08 & 7.10.

K5 - Vessel Provisioning
Project activities will restrict safe access for provisioning from the wharf side. Accordingly, all provisioning for vessels at the K5 berth must be conducted from the water side during the outage period.

Goods are not to be transported to the vessel via the gangway. This specifically relates to vessel deliveries and manual handling tasks from wharf to vessel.

Pedestrian access for vessel integrity e.g. vessel agent, marine surveying, crew transport etc will remain available and unchanged for those persons requiring access.

Parking will be available for waste services however, this will not be adjacent to vessel cranes. Parking will be reviewed and notified to waste service providers as required…
