Severe weather warning

Port Kembla’s Port Authority has issued a severe weather warning in light of poor forecast for the coming days.

Vessels in Port Kembla Harbour are instructed to:
- Increase mooring lines in their current mooring arrangements.
- Lower the outboard anchor to the seabed at the earliest opportunity.
- Keep a close watch on VHF Ch 11 and report any movement immediately to the VTS via VHF or by calling 02 4275 1097.
- If a vessel needs any assistance, you must contact VTS immediately. We are here to assist 24/7 - it is also a port requirement.

Vessels in port may drop their seaside anchor and run extra lines as needed and are encouraged to contact VTS if further information or assistance is required.

The anchorage presently remains opening to shipping but the Harbour Master and VTS will monitor the situation and close the anchorage, if necessary and on this basis if the anchorage is closed then all vessels to drift off port at a safe distance 12nm off the coast and monitor VHF radio channels 11 & 16.
