Scheduled lane outage at Gatun Locks

Dry chamber maintenance works will be conducted on the West Lane of Gatun Locks from 1800 hours on July 21 to 1800 hours on July 22, 2026. During this period the East Lane will be operational, but lockages will take more time.

The number of slots available in the Panamax Locks during this period will be reduced to 16.

In the 2nd Tiebreaker Competition on July 8 for booking date July 22, 4 booking slots will be offered to supers and none for regular vessels. No booking slots will be offered during Period 3 for supers or regular vessels. The total number of slots available will be 13 for supers and 3 for regular vessels.

Further, during the maintenance period, no more than 7 of the total number of slots available to supers may be booked in each direction, no more than 2 of which with daylight restrictions per direction. The combined number of daylight restricted vessels shall not exceed 4.

For regular vessels, no more than 2 may be booked for transit per direction, of which no more than 1 may be allocated to vessels transiting with restrictions per direction.

Once the maintenance is complete, the 26 slots capacity for the Panama Locks will be reinstated for booking dates beginning July 23, 2026.
