Restrictions extended to all vessels

19 Jan 2021 / Reunion

Restrictions on ships that have called in South Africa in the last 30 days are extended to all ships calling at Reunion Island, except those coming directly and non-stop from a port on the mainland of the European Union.

These measures relate to both port operations and crew relief:

  • All persons on board the vessel must undergo an RT-PCR test within 72 hours prior to commercial operations and / or disembarkation of persons as part of a crew changeover.

  • This test should preferably be carried out at sea, with screening on board the team in charge of the test. Failing that, the sailors will be transported by sea shuttle to the East port for testing, and brought back on board immediately afterwards, pending the result of their test. Exceptionally, for reasons of maritime safety, if the weather conditions are more favourable to the transfer of people in Saint-Paul Bay, the west port can accommodate a test centre, with the prior agreement of the port officer. on-call duty and after information from the South Indian Ocean CROSS. These provisions are without prejudice to the rules relating to the anchoring of ships off Reunion Island.
The material organisation of these tests and their financial support are the responsibility of the ship's company.

  • If the result of one or more tests is positive, commercial operations and/or crew change may only take place after seven days’ quarantine followed by a new test.
