Requirements for LNG/Alternate/Dual fuelled vessels

30 Apr 2025 / Dampier, Australia

Requirements regarding the fuel management system for any LNG / Alternate / Dual Fuelled Vessel operating at the Port of Dampier.

Port Requirements:
For an LNG / Alternate / Dual Fuelled Vessel visiting the Port, the vessel operators shall provide the following information to the PPA Marine team in adequate time prior to the vessels first arrival:
1. Terminal and ETA
2. General Arrangement plan (GA plan)
3. Mooring arrangement plan
4. Crew Competency list (including details of licenses and training for LNG / dual fuel operation)
5. Ship’s particulars
6. Photographs (bridge equipment, main deck, engine room, LNG tanks, and mooring stations)
7. HAZID / HAZOP report
8. Sea and gas trial documents

For vessels with Dual Fuelled system, PPA requires that the following conditions be followed when operating in Port waters:
• Main engine must be changed over to LSFO / MGO in sufficient time to ensure stability of operations, before entering the port.
• Auxiliary Engines and Boiler may run on LNG or Alternate fuel provided that the system can be immediately changed over to LSFO / MGO without any impact to operation, reliability or efficiency of the Auxiliary Engines or Boiler.

Notes:
1. The above details must be provided to PPA by all LNG / Alternate / Dual Fuelled ships prior to their first arrival in the Port of Dampier even if the LNG / Alternate / Dual Fuel mode is not being used.
2. For LNG / Alternate / Dual Fuelled Vessels which have been to the Port of Dampier in the past, must provide this information prior to their next return to the Port, unless all the required information has already been provided to the PPA.
3. The requirements of this NTM do not apply to LNG carriers which use LNG as fuel.
