Replacement of overhead cable between airport and Tung Chung, Lantau

From 6 February 2017 and for approximately 4 months, an overhead cable replacement works will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 17.497’N / 113 deg. 56.091’E
(B) 22 deg. 17.492’N / 113 deg. 56.115’E
(C) 22 deg. 17.456’N / 113 deg. 56.106’E
(D) 22 deg. 17.467’N / 113 deg. 56.068’E

The works will be carried by a flat top barge. One tugboat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 25 metres will be established around the flat top barge. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barge.

An overhead clearance of at least 8 metres above sea level will be maintained at all times to allow vessels to pass underneath the cable.

The hours of work will be from 0800 to 1800 hours. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
