Removal of floating sea barrier off Poyan Reservoir

The working period has been extended for work to remove a floating sea barrier off Poyan Reservoir, West Johor Strait.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marie Notice No.34 of 2016, the work will be now conducted 24 hours daily - including Sundays and Public Holidays - from 11 April to 10 October, along a line joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
A) 01 deg. 22.988’N / 103 deg. 39.427'E
B) 01 deg. 22.925’N / 103 deg. 39.333'E
C) 01 deg. 22.525’N / 103 deg. 39.083'E
D) 01 deg. 22.383’N / 103 deg. 38.917'E
E) 01 deg. 22.183’N / 103 deg. 38.875'E
F) 01 deg. 21.500’N / 103 deg. 38.433'E
G) 01 deg. 21.327’N / 103 deg. 38.337'E
H) 01 deg. 21.226’N / 103 deg. 38.371'E

The work involves the dismantling and removal of the floating sea barrier off Poyan reservoir. A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity to warn other craft about the work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.
