Precautionary measures for arriving ships

Following the confirmation of one infection with COVID-19 in Yemen, the Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation yesterday (10 April) announced the following precautionary measures to be taken upon the arrival of ships to tackle the pandemic:

  1. All ships are obligated to spray with sterilizers before entering port, to include spraying the deck, accommodation and the stairwell.

  2. After that, the medical personnel will board the ship with camera and modern examination equipment for crew medical examination.

  3. Ship's certificates will be checked, followed by a report sent to the Executive Chairman of the Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation on the condition of the ship.

  4. If the ship is found to be infected, it willbe directed to leave port immediately.

  5. Ship's ladder shall not be descended while ship at berth.

  6. Ship's crew shall not be allowed to land from ship to jetty.

  7. Ships shall remain at anchorage for a week before they are allowed to enter port.

  8. Dhows and sailing boats are banned from port entry.

  9. Masks and gloves will be provided to all port workers and employees on a daily basis.

  10. All port departments and buildings will be sprayed and sterilized.

In addition to the above, with immediate effect, passenger traffic and land transport has been suspended between Governorates.
