Ports prepare for Tropical Storm Veronica

As per the latest forecast, Tropical Cyclone Veronica (19U) is currently located north of Port Hedland, and forecast to move in a West-Southwest direction and reach Category 4 intensity.

Due to the direction of approach of the tropical cyclone, storm surges are likely to be experienced, which may be further intensified due to the spring tides.

Tropical Cyclone Veronica is expected to continue on a West-South-Westerly track over the next 24 hours with a possible coastal crossing expected to take place later during this week.

The ports of Dampier and Port Hedland are currently at Cyclone Stage 2 – Prepare.
