Port workers’ strike

Operations at Chattogram Port have come to a halt as a result of an ongoing series of 8-hour strikes by workers and staff.

Loading and unloading of cargo came to a standstill, container congestion shot up, vessel schedules were disrupted and movement of container-laden vehicles inside the port was suspended. Discharging was disrupted for vessels staying at the jetty.

The strike is affecting the port's main jetties area, but not anchorages.
