29 Jan 2018 / Aden, Yemen
According to local reports, fierce fighting broke out in Aden yesterday morning (28 January) between forces loyal to the exiled President Hadi and the Southern Resistance Forces, in the wake of a crackdown on anti-government protests.
All public institutions in Aden, including military and police, fell into the hands of the Southern Resistance Forces. Later in the day, Aden International Airport was closed and all aircraft departed without passengers.
The port of Aden, however, remains open and operating normally without any interruption.
