Port operations unaffected by earthquake

03 Apr 2024 / Taiwan

Operations at Taipei ports and terminals are continuing as normal, unaffected by the earthquake which struck off Taiwan’s east coast this morning (3 April).

The quake, with a magnitude of around 7, struck at 07:58 hours local time. According to media reports, buildings collapsed in Hualien, the city closest to the epicentre.

There has been no major impact on any ports or terminals operation in neighbouring Japan or the Philippines. A tsunami alert was raised for the southern part of Japan’s Okinawa Island, but this has since been lifted.
