Port operations continue despite flooding

Operations at Sri Lankan ports are continuing, despite the severe floods the island nation has experienced this week.

Recent flooding and landslides has caused widespread disruption and an estimated 200,000 people have been displaced as a result. Rains are expected to continue over the coming days.

Operations at the country’s ports are largely unaffected as they are outside the worst hit areas. However, Colombo’s Harbour Master has appealed for understanding and patience with regard to vessel movement delays, adding that to protect life and the safety of port and vessels, pilotage would be disrupted from time to time.

GAC Sri Lanka has made additional arrangements to adjust the time allocated for road transport related to pick-ups and drop-off times, with road transports and time allocated to airport drop-offs.
