Port goes paperless

22 Apr 2020 / Salalah, Oman

The Port of Salalah has announced that it had gone completely paperless for its operations, in part of the efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Oman.

The port is no longer accepting any paper delivery orders, and the e-delivery order upload solutions have already been implemented and activated.

For a majority of shipping lines, a file transfer protocol (FTP) system has been set up, where shipping lines can upload the PDF version of delivery orders, and port officials can also assess it, the notification said.

The port authorities have also stopped accepting cash for any services offered by them and have instructed all the stakeholders to utilise the electronic payment platform only. And for collecting original bills, the port has arranged a safe dropbox to minimise physical contact.
