The 99-year agreement between Sri Lanka Ports Authority and China Merchant Holdings Company Ltd to lease the Hambantota port has been signed.
The Concession Agreement for the port sets up two companies – Hambantota International Port Group (Pvt.) Ltd. to oversee commercial operations, and Hambantota International Port Services (Pvt.) Ltd to oversee Common User Facilities, including security operations.
