The Port of Esperance Harbour Master advises that due to a Long Period Wave event, coupled with present deteriorating weather and gale warning, the port will be closed from 1800 today (28 April) through to 0500 on Wednesday, 4 May.
The current forecasts, coupled with the Gale Warning, mean that the risk having ships alongside any berth during the weather events represents an unacceptable risk.
The situation will be reviewed daily basis, but at this stage, berthing of ships is expected to resume on the morning of 4 May.
