Planned protest march unlikely to affect port operations

Several thousand protestors are expected to take part in a demonstration in Jakarta this Friday, 4 November, which could extend over the weekend. After Friday prayers, demonstrators will gather at the Great Istiqlal Mosque to march to the Presidential Palace.

It is estimated that the event could escalate and cause disruption in the wider area including the National Monument (Monas), the area around the Presidential Palace and Governorate of Jakarta, the Harmoni area (behind the presidential palace), Great Istiqlal Mosque and its surroundings.

Operations at the port, however, are not expected to be affected as the march will take place in a different part of the city.
