Employees of the pilot tenders for the port of Hamburg are staging a 36-hour strike from 17:00 hours local time today (22 March).
It will not be possible for pilots to board vessels coming into the port during the strike period. Vessels which are exempted from using pilots can call as scheduled.
Accordingly, the River Elbe has been closed to all vessels that require pilotage to enter the port of Hamburg.
