After being closed on Friday (31 January), berthing at Abbot Point port and coal terminal will tentatively continue from 00:01 hours local time tomorrow (4 February). Pilotage services for the port of Townsville resumed today (3 February).
The tropical low (16U) located to the south of the Solomon Islands is moving slowly to the south southeast. The likelihood of this tropical low becoming a tropical cyclone increases to Moderate on Tuesday.
The system is forecast to track generally to the south, through the eastern Coral Sea and to the southeast and away from the Australian region from the middle of the week. 16U is unlikely to directly impact the Australian mainland.
