06 Jul 2016 / Bayport, USA
With immediate effect, all vessels transiting to/from Bayport (sailings, arrivals & shifts) with a draft greater than 36’ freshwater are required to have two tugs, at the Pilot’s discretion. The tugs are to assist transiting vessels in safely making the turn into and out of the Bayport Ship Channel.
This restriction has been imposed by Houston Pilots based on updated soundings provided by the Army Corp of Engineers for the Bayport flare.
As dredging and surveying progresses, the restriction will be modified or removed as soon as safely possible.
