Novel Corona Virus update (16 March)

16 Mar 2020 / Australia

According to reports and verbal advice, quarantine restrictions are being extended to cover all commercial vessels arriving in Australia from overseas, regardless of the nationality of crew on board or whether the vessel has visited a high-risk country.

Vessels will be allowed to berth and commence cargo operations (except in Queensland and New South Wales), but crew will be restricted on board until the 14-day quarantine period has passed.

For commercial vessels that have departed from any port outside Australia in the last 14 days, all crew must remain on-board while the vessel is berthed in Australia. Crew may only able disembark to conduct essential vessel functions and, when doing so, crew must wear personal protective equipment. These restrictions apply until 14 days has elapsed since the vessel or any person onboard left the port outside Australia.
