New site occupation charge introduced

NSW Ports, the private lease holder of Port Kembla ports, has introduced a new site occupation charge. The charge of $350.66 per hour is in effect at all BlueScope Steel Berths (109-113) since 1 February. Site occupation is charged for any cargo considered as non-consumption or 3rd party cargoes. Consumption cargoes are all import cargoes for steel making, e.g. iron ore, limestone etc., are exempt from the site occupation charge. The charge is applicable to all other cargoes when handled across these berths. Site occupation is charged against the vessel. NSW Ports have also introduced wharfage charges at the BlueScope Berths 109-113, charged against the cargo owner e.g. shipper and or consignee. The new charges are currently under dispute, however NSW Ports have behun issuing invoices where applicable. Updates will be provided as they become available.
