New Port of Galveston berth draft restrictions

The Galveston Texas City Pilots have determined that the maximum allowable draft for vessels calling on the port are as follows (prior limits are in braces):

• GX 10: 34’ {36’}

• GX 16/18: 32’ {unchanged}

• GX 25: 30’ {33’}

• GX 26: 28’ {29’}

• GX 28: 33’ {34’}

• GX 30/32: 40’ (The far west end has significant shoaling) {43’}

• GX 34: 32’ {37’}

• GX 35: 30’ without 15’ Yokohama fenders and 33’ maximum with 15’ Yokohama fenders. {30 w/o; 38’ with fendering}

• GX 37 slip: 26’ for vessels up to 600’ then 17’ for vessels over 600’ {27’ up to 600’LOA; 18’ over 600’ LOA}

• GX 38 slip: 14’ {14’}

• GX 39 slip: 24’ for vessels up to 550’ then 18’ max over 550’ {27’ up to 600’LOA; 18’ over 600’ LOA}

• GX 39/40 T-Head: 32’ {34’}

• GX 41 slip: 22’ up to 600’ then 19’ max over 600’ {25’ up to 500’ LOA; 23’ over 500’ LOA}

• GX 41 T-Head: 23’ only on east end not to exceed 300’ in length {26’ east end – not to exceed 325’}

• GX term (PISTI): 32’ {37’}

• Gulf Copper D East: 20’ dolphin 3, 18’ dolphin 2 {22’ dolphin 3, 19’ dolphin 2}

• Gulf Copper D West: 25’ {unchanged}

• Turning circle 1 - 36’ for 1125’ - 30’ up to 1200’. (The turning circle is shoaling in rapidly) {41’}

This maximum allowable draft is based on 1’ UKC at 0’ MLLW reference datum at the berth and 2’ UKC at 0’ MLLW in the channel approaching the facility. If the intended pier does not have sufficient depth to provide 1’ UKC at 0’ MLLW reference datum, please notify the Presiding Officer of the Galveston Texas City Pilots before the vessel orders a Pilot for movement.
