New fees for Chinese owned/operated/built vessels & all foreign-built vehicle carrier vessels

The United States’ Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has released documents ahead of the 14 October introduction of new fees for Chinese owned or operated vessels and all foreign-built vehicle carrier vessels arriving at US ports.

CBP will not be responsible for ensuring fees are collected. It is the responsibility of the owner or operator.

It is highly recommended that fees be paid 3-4 business days in advance of the vessel's arrival to ensure the payment clears and is pushed to Vessel Entrance and Clearance System (VECS) for the agents and CBP to confirm it has been paid.

Clarification is being sought on whether the fees will be applicable for a vessel already in port on 14 October.
