Movement Control Order implemented

The [Malaysian] government has decided to implement the Movement Control Order effective 18 March until 31 March.

All government and public premises will be closed except those involved in “essential services” which, as defined by Industrial Relations Act 1967, includes:
i. Transport services by land, water or air;
ii. Port, dock, harbor and airport services and undertakings, including stevedoring, lighterage, cargo handling, pilotage and storing or bulking of commodities.

From the statement above, it is clear that shipping businesses activities will not be affected from the restriction. However, it is advisable for all shipowners to temporarily case signing on/off for shipping crews during this Movement Control Order period, especially foreign crews…
