More ports close ahead of hurricane landfall

28 Sep 2022 / Florida, United States

More Florida ports have closed in anticipation of the landfall of Hurricane Ian this afternoon (28 September).

Tampa was closed yesterday (27 September) with Jacksonville and Port Canaveral following today.

On the current track, Ian is expected to make landfall around Fort Meyers this afternoon, potentially as a Category 5 hurricane, then travel northeast across Florida and come out around Daytona Beach. A second landfall around Savannah is expected to follow on Friday evening (30 September) with much less intensity.
