Monsoon preparedness: June 1-September 30, 2026

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) advises vessels at the port to take preparatory measures during the monsoon season, from June 1 to September 30, 2026.

  • All vessels in port should keep their main engines are at stand-by on short notice. Master should ensure additional mooring ropes are make fast whenever the occasion demands, and that there are sufficient crew on board to tackle any emergencies. No immobilization of main engines is permitted.
  • Vessels should keep continuous watch on VHF Channel in case of any emergency. The Area Cyclone Warning Centre at Mumbai relays port warnings whenever necessary.
  • The launch service provided by JNPA between Mumbai and JNP may be suspended without notice.
  • All emergencies shall be dealt with as detailed in the Port’s Emergency Action Plan.
  • During foul weather, vessels at CB, LB 2, LB 4, BMCT 1 and SWB(NSDT) to be berthed heading south.
  • No cold move is permitted in JNPA water except in an emergency and with approval of the Harbour Master/Deputy Conservator.
