Monsoon preparedness and precautions

Mormugao Port Authority has announced statutory requirements to be strictly complied with in monsoon conditions, ahead of the approaching monsoon season from June 1 to September 1, 2026.

  • Vessels must be kept in good operational condition at all times.
  • Engines must be kept in readiness and stand-by to manoeuvre at any point.
  • Proper manning of vessel must be maintained.
  • Weather warnings should be regularly received/monitored by all available means.
  • All equipment, cargo gears, pumps, pipelines, etc. must be kept in good operational condition and maintained as per the mandatory requirements and standards.
  • Mooring and anchoring gears, winches, sufficient mooring lines and ropes must be kept in good condition.
  • All safety measures must be taken in view of the approaching monsoon/heavy weather season.
  • Vessel agents are not relieved of their obligations until vessel under their agency are completely cleared from Indian waters.
  • Masters of all vessels shall exercise the powers vested to them under SOLAS Chapter – V, Safety of Navigation, Regulation 34-1 and International Management Code for Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (International Safety Management (ISM) Code), Section 5.2 at all times.
