Monsoon directive: Cold Moves

07 May 2024 / Mumbai, India

The Mumbai Port Authority has issued directives for the monsoon period – No "Cold Moves" (movements of dumb barges) will be permitted except in emergencies or during specific calm periods. Ships will not conduct "Cold Moves" from 1 June to 15 September 2024. All flat top dumb barges must be securely anchored in sheltered areas, and those with accommodations or floating cranes must have standby tugs available. Regular updates on maximum drafts allowed are provided monthly during meetings. Deviations from these directives may be considered based on factors like ship size, weather conditions and equipment for efficient discharge.
